About the event
In April we will read A Murder at Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey. I would classify it as "light" reading as it can be read quickly, and it is relaxing in the sense of a classical mystery novel. It is a murder mystery set in early 20th century India with the protagonist Perveen Mistry a female lawyer and sleuth that appears in a series of books. The character is in fact inspired by Cornelia Sorabji and Mithan Tata Lam, India's first women lawyers, according to this interview of the author.
